wisdom...(conclusion) part 3
To renew your mind in the likeness of God is to emerge like a butterfly from it's chrysalis.
In my concluding post for this three part series concerning wisdom, I will start with a portion of a very compelling scripture :
Romans 12:2
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind... ( read again, let this marinate)
I want to conclude with a short thought, I don't want to overwhelm you or say too much, just enough to remember :)
I have just started my quest on the renewing of my mind. I am finding more and more that all we need in this
wretched world of ours is love, and we should do everything in our power to attain it. We work day in and out; bleeding, sweating, fighting, to make a living, worring about tomorrow. Do we really work that hard as
servents of the living God? Are you striving to renew your mind? If you are in the same state of mind you are in now as you were a year ago, six months ago for that matter, are you growing?? becoming wiser??incresing in love and peace??
I hope you are, I hope I am, I hope we will together.

Love never fails....And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

wisdom 2 of 3
Change your mind!
In this first post on part 2, I want to write a little note about the power you have to change your mind.
These are powers that we all have, but we don't always take advantage of.
Life is full of emotions
and sometimes were not sure what to do about the feelings we have. Instead of facing them we'll have a drink, smoke, bottle it inside, or just have a nasty attitude. We are all believers in the strength
of God, and we should honor the God that resides in us.
An example would be the after math of an argument, you're angry, and the conversation plays in your head over and over, you may even think of bringing it up again. Just let it go, and change your mind from frustration to contentment.
There is nothing wrong with being angry, or anxious from time to time, or even having a drink from time, to time. It's not okay to let these things consume us, or to use it to disguise pain, or emotion.
The power to change your mind is HUGE! All you have to do is..... do it. Put your egos aside and let the love you have inside be your strength. Fighting your ego is hard, but once you have conquered it you can find eternal bliss.
I'm still working on this every day, every hour!!!!
Love

Eat Pray Love
This book has many wise words in it. Remember not to draw wisdom from one place, and listen
to what different kinds of people have to say, you don't have to agree, but you never
know the different ways you can increase your knowledge.
This book talks a lot about meditation in India which I LOVED. It also
talks about serious depression and anxiety.
It's really for women, cuz it gets really really love mushy with to-good-to-be-true moments.
A paragraph from Eat pray love, Page 179:
So I've started being vigilant about watching my thoughts all day, and monitoring them. I repeat
this vow about 700 times a day: " I will not harbor
unhealthy thoughts anymore." Every time a diminishing thought arises, i repeat the vow. I will not harbor
unhealthy thoughts anymore. The first time I heard myself say this, my inner ear perked up at the word "harbor," which is a noun as well as a verb. A harbor of course, is a place of refuge, a port of entry. I pictured the harbor of my mind-a little beat-up, perhaps, a little storm-worn, but well situated and with a nice depth. The harbor of my mind is an open bay, the only access to the island of my Self (which is a young and volcanic island, yes but fertile and promising). This island has been through some wars, it is true, but it is now committed to peace, under a new leader (me) who has instituted new policies to protect the place. And now- let the word go out across the seven seas- there are much, much stricter laws on the books about who may enter this harbor.
You may not come here anymore with your hard and abusive thoughts, with your plague ships of thoughts, with our slave ships of thoughts- all these will be turned away. Likewise, any thoughts
that are filled with angry or starving exiles, with malcontents and pamphleteers, mutineers and violent assassins, desperate prostitutes, pimps and seditious stowaways- you may not come here anymore, either. Cannibalistic thoughts, for obvious reasons, will no longer be received. Even missionaries will be screened carefully, for sincerity. This is a peaceful harbor, the entryway to a fine and proud island that is only now beginning to cultivate tranquillity. If you can abide by these new laws, my dear thoughts, then you are welcome in my mind-otherwise, I shall turn you all back toward the sea from whence you came.
That is my mission, and it will never end.

wisdom...part 1
I want to do a series on Wisdom. What it is, what you benifit from it, and how to attain it. I will find proverbs, scriptures, and quotes all to inspire you to find wisdom in your life, it will heal you.
First I want to introduce you to Uncle Iroh, he inspires me to find wisdom and he always has wise words to share....
And there are a thousand whys.
God is God.
Last night I lay in bed and repeated:
You are God. You are God. You are God.
You are God. You are God. You are God.
You are God. You are God. You are God.
You are God. You are God. You are God.
I believe there is power in saying it.
In saying out loud what is true,
What can never be changed.
Love. These emails are about love.
What I see around me though
What comes even from my own heart
Is not love.
But a thing that snaps, that bites, that chews
A thing that takes away
We're supposed to build up, put together.
I have a thousand whys. But if I repeat the truths of God
I know that regardless of circumstance or people
God is God.
And that real love, love that is pure exists.
Love that is kind and patient.
Not self-seeking, envious, or prideful.
Keeps no record of wrongs but
Always protects
Always trusts
Always hopes
Always perseveres.
If we could just meditate on this...
if we could just keep telling ourselves
Over and over Until we really believe it
The things we would say
The things we could do.
I have hope that this love can change us.
"I have hope that this love can change me."
I wish that I may only love you more,
Grace
First I want to introduce you to Uncle Iroh, he inspires me to find wisdom and he always has wise words to share....
" You must never give into dispare, allow yourself to slip down that road and you surrender
to your lowest instincts. In the darkest times hope is something you give yourself, it is the meaning
of inner strength."
Uncle Iroh
My chosen Proverbs from Chapters 1-18:Prologue: Purpose and Theme
The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel.
NIV
for attaining wisdom and discipline; for understanding words of insight;
for aquiring a disciplined and prudent life,
The fear of the Lord is the begining of Knowledge,
but fools despise wisdom and discipline.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
Blessed is the man who finds wisdom,
the man who gains understanding,
for she is more profitable than silver
and yeilds better returns than gold.
She is more preciou than rubies;
nothing you desire can compare with her.
Long life is in her rght hand;
in her left hand are riches and honor.
Her ways are pleasant ways,
and all her paths are peace.
She is a tree of life to those who embrace
her;
those who lay hold of her will be blessed.
Do not forsake wisom, and she will protect you;
love her, and she will watch over you.
Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom.
Though it cost all you have, get
understanding.
Whoever loves discipline loves
knowledge,
but he who hates correction is stupid.
There is deceit in the hearts of those who plot evil,
but joy for those who promote peace.
A man's riches may ransom his life,
but a poor man hears no threat.
Pride only breeds quarrels,
but wisdom is found in those who take advice.
Stay away from a foolish man,
for you will not find knowledge on his
lips.
A gentle answer turns away wrath,
but a harsh word stirs up anger.
The path of life leads upward for the wise
to keep him from going down to the
grave.
All man's ways seem innocent to him,
but motives are weighed by the Lord.
Commit to the Lord whatever you do,
and your plans will succeed.
In his heart a man plans his course,
but the Lord determines his steps.
Understanding is a fountian of life to those
who have it,
but folly brings punishment to fools.
Pleasant words are honeycomb,
sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.
Gray hair is a crown of splendor;
it is attained by a righteous life.
Better a dry crust with peace and
quiet
than a house full of feasting , with
strife.
He who covers over an offense promotes love,
but whoever repeats the matter
separates close friends.
Better to meet a bear robbed of her cubs
than a fool in his folly.
Starting a quarrel is like breaching a dam;
so drop the matter before a dispute
breaks out.
Of what use is money in the hand of a fool,
since he has no desire to get wisdom?
A man of knowledge uses words with restraint,
and a man of understanding is even-tempered.
A fool finds no pleasure in understanding
but delights in airing his own opinions.
A man of many companions may come to ruin,
but there is a friend who sticks closer
than a brother.
From Grace
God is God no matter what.

One man's 3-year experiment in eating organic food - all the time
One man's 3-year experiment in eating organic food - all the time
By Tara Parker-Pope

LinkedinDiggFacebookMixxMySpaceYahoo! BuzzPermalink.Fruits, vegetables and animals can be 100 percent organic. What about people? In a fascinating experiment - on himself - Dr. Alan Greene, a pediatrician and author in Danville, California, decided to find out. For the last three years, Greene has eaten nothing but organic foods, whether he's cooking at home, dining out or snacking on the road.
He chose three years as a goal because that was the amount of time it took to have a breeding animal certified organic by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. While food growers comply with organic regulations every day, Greene wondered whether a person could meet the same standards. It hasn't been easy.
"This isn't a way of eating I could recommend to anybody else because it's so far off the beaten food grid," said Greene, 49, the founder of a popular Web site about children's health, drgreene.com. "It was much more challenging than I thought it would be, and I thought it would be tough. There were definitely days where there was nothing I could find that was organic."
Other writers have ventured off the traditional food grid, notably Barbara Kingsolver in "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" and Michael Pollan in "The Omnivore's Dilemma." But what makes Greene's experiment remarkable is the length of time he devoted to it, and his effort to incorporate organic eating into the routines of everyday living. His findings offer new insight into the challenges facing the organic food industry and those who want to patronize it.
Organic farmers don't use conventional methods to fertilize the soil, control weeds and pests, or prevent disease in livestock.Organic methods often lead to higher costs, and consumers can pay twice as much for organic foods as for conventional products. To cut back on the cost of an organic diet, Greene said he had to cut back on meat. "Whenever you go up the food chain, the costs pile up," he said. "If you don't eat meat at every meal, if meat becomes more of a side dish than a centerpiece, you can fill the plate with healthy organic food for about the same price."
Questions remain about whether organic foods are really better for you. The data are mixed. In autumn, researchers from the University of Copenhagen reported on a two-year experiment in which they grew carrots, kale, peas, potatoes and apples using both organic and conventional growing methods. The researchers found that the growing methods made no difference in the nutrients in the crops or the levels of nutrients retained by rats that ate them, according to the study, published in The Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture. But other research suggests that organic foods do contain more of certain nutrients - almost twice as many, in the case of organic tomatoes studied for a 2007 report in The Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry.
Greene said he was inspired to go all-organic after talking to a dairy farmer who noted that livestock got sick less after a switch to organic practices. He wondered if becoming 100 percent organic might improve his own health.Three years later, he says he has more energy and wakes up earlier.
As a pediatrician regularly exposed to sick children, he was accustomed to several illnesses a year. Now, he says, he is rarely ill. His urine is a brighter yellow, a sign that he is ingesting more vitamins and nutrients.
At home, he said, the organic routine was relatively easy. Organic food is widely available, not just at natural and organic food stores but at traditional supermarkets. He also shopped at farmer's markets and joined a local community-supported agriculture group. Because he bought less meat, the costs tended to balance out. And his family (two of his four children still live at home) largely went along with the experiment.
On the road, though, life was more challenging. In corporate cafeterias and convenience stores, he looked for stickers that began with the number 9 to signify organic. When dining out, he called ahead; high-end restaurants were willing to accommodate his all-organic request.
Greene reached the three-year milestone in October, but his diet is still organic. He hasn't decided whether to keep going full tilt or to ease up in the interest of cost and convenience. In his latest book, "Raising Baby Green: The Earth-Friendly Guide to Pregnancy, Childbirth and Baby Care" (Jossey-Bass), he advocates a "strategic" approach, urging parents to insist on organic versions of a few main foods, like milk, potatoes, apples and baby food.
The biggest surprise of the whole experience, he says, was that many people still don't know what "organic" means.
"It's surprising to me how few people know that organic means without pesticides, antibiotics or hormones," he said. "In stores or restaurants around the country, I would ask, 'Do you have anything organic?' Half the time they would say, 'Do you mean vegetarian?"

techniques...
Here are three techniques that may help you learn to listen and slow down before you speak:
1) Before every action, there are words, and before all words, there are thoughts. Make it a habit to Witness your actions, and if you recognize that they are not of a peace-bringing nature, cease doing them. Similarly, if you see that your words are tension producing, stop them. And then examine your thoughts. If you Witness them being troubling, change them to ones that bring you serenity, or cease them entirely. This can be done by using a meditation technique that you have found brings you peace, or by praying, dancing, physical exercises, or whatever.
2) Check your body for physical tension. Make it a habit to stop several times a day to scan your body mentally for areas where you are tense. Command them to relax. You will quickly learn where you keep your tension and when you command that area to relax, your whole body will melt away it's uptightness like chocolate melting in the summers heat. Similarly, start taking a breath break. All you need to do is spend a minute or two doing a breathing exercise. It can be as simple as just inhaling and exhaling deeply, or it can be a pranayama (breathing) method that has a more complex pattern. This will always produce a calming effect.
3) Say a prayer or affirmation several times a day. Something simple like "Higher Power, guide, protect, and bless me", or "I receive and fill with wisdom and love with every breath", can produce uplifting physical, mental, and emotional changes.

Having trouble meditating?
Techniques for Positive Thinking and Meditation
The aim of free meditations is to bring inner peace within our self and the world in a positive and spiritual way. The world is not a peaceful place and within every soul there is some form of tension and stress. It is therefore essential to create positive and peaceful thoughts to bring peace to our mind. Meditation is one of the best methods to bring about transformation and nurture the natural qualities within.
The best way that we can create that change is to change our thoughts from being negative to positive. The positive discovery about meditation is that we are focusing within our self and becoming free of negativity. Meditation techniques simply involve a process of transforming yourself, your thoughts, and recognizing the negative thoughts, and changing them into positive and peaceful thoughts.
The best attitude towards meditation is to be very patient as the mind does not always want to focus. Having a sense of expectation towards positive results can create uncomfortable pressure and thus take away the enjoyment of the experience. By practicing meditation regularly, the person whom meditates gains a wonderful sense of the self.
Meditation is a self healing process, any form of stress is a sign of our negative thinking and Dis ease within our mind. If we don't attend to dis ease in the mind we may find that chronic stress can lead to disease of the body.
Please say this prayer before meditating:
God, Open my minds eye so I may see and feel Your shinning light presence close to me.Give me inner strength for my stumbling feet as I battle the crowd on life's busy street.
And widen the vision of my unseeing minds eye so in passing faces I'll recognize not just a stranger, unloved, and unknown, but a friend with a heart and soul that is much like my own.

The Power of Positive Affirmations Posted by CURLYNIKKI
Labels: body image, Positive Affirmations, self-esteem
GG's post this morning was very powerful and totally relatable. I think it would be beneficial for each and everyone of us to reflect on our lives... our blessings... our achievements. We need to make an effort to shift toward a positive mindset.
As I've mentioned in previous posts, we have a tendency to be negative. We filter out the good things that happen to us, and focus in and harp on the bad-- we constantly tell ourselves negative things. These self-defeating thoughts can result in depressed mood, irritability, anxiety, and low self-esteem. This is where affirmations come in...
An affirmation can help you replace a negative thought with a more helpful positive one. By using the power of positive affirmations and by repeating them you can recondition your brain and change how you feel and think about any situation (your appearance, your hair, a relationship, etc.). You can choose to be happy, no matter the circumstances! At a personal level it will transform your life, your health and renew the joy and passion for life.

At a personal level it will transform your life, your health and renew the joy and passion for life.

romans 12:14
Romans 12:14-21 (New International Version)
14Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. 16Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position.[a] Do not be conceited.
17Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. 18If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay,"[b]says the Lord. 20On the contrary:
"If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head."[c] 21Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
words from me..
Hi friends! Sorry I have been away for a while.
I want to say a few words:
It's important to be an example not only to children but as christians to everyone around you.
Be a gentle loving loving spirit, wach what you say, watch what you do, and make sure what ever you
do or say that it's pure in heart, and full of truth. AND DONT TAKE LIFE TOO SERIOUSLY, it just
makes you a stiff person...lol
Remember God is in control.
love you guys:)

from Gracie
to my beautiful beautiful brothers and sisters:
i love you and i miss you!!!
in my last email i wrote from lamentations 3:22:
"the Lord is my portion; therefore i will wait for him."
i keep repeating it over and over again
because frankly, it is hard to wait.
to just stay, and obey.
the Lord is my portion; therefore i will wait for him.
the Lord is my portion; therefore i will wait for him.
the Lord is my portion; therefore i will wait for him.
the Lord is my portion; therefore i will wait for him.
God remind us of your love
that all-consuming, world-transcending, BOOMING love
because we cannot do it on our own.
give us the right attitude of surrender, trust, and thanksgiving.
because frankly these things are hard to do.
hard to submit to your will, to be humbled, to completely trust, and to be thankful, especially when times suck.
and if we fail, remind us that you are gentle and kind,
our forever father, our faithful dad.
i listened to a testimony today: jubilee church: dan kim
and you could physically hear the love in his voice for God and for all of us.
he said: "...one day i was just reading the bible and i felt like heaven just opened up. and i just felt, just love, just the love of God. and at that moment i knew that God is real. God is REAL people. i wouldn't be here if he wasn't. and i knew that God loved me and i knew how much God loved me. and in that i knew that this is how much he loves everybody. and God loves ALL of you."
"...i wrote in my testimony that God is so powerful that he can take something like cancer and make it the best thing that's ever happened to you, because he used it to bring me back to him. im not saying that he gave me cancer or anything like that, but he used it. that's why in romans 8:28: '...in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.' "
GOD LOVES US. GOD LOVES YOU.
i pray that God fills you and me with his love so that we can be transformed.

be careful dear christians
Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits; they become character.
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.
