boasting about tommorrow

 James 4:13 NIV

13Now listen, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money." 14Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. 15Instead, you ought to say, "If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that." 16As it is, you boast and brag. All such boasting is evil. 17Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins.

James 4:13-17 (King James Version)

13Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
14Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
15For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
16But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.
17Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

the new food pyramid

The Nutrition Source

Healthy Eating Pyramid

5 Quick Tips - Healthy Eating Pyramid
1. Start with exercise. A healthy diet is built on a base of regular exercise, which keeps calories in balance and weight in check.
2. Focus on food, not grams. The Healthy Eating Pyramid doesn’t worry about specific servings or grams of food, so neither should you. It’s a simple, general guide to how you should eat when you eat.
3. Go with plants. Eating a plant-based diet is healthiest.  Choose plenty of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and healthy fats, like olive and canola oil.
4. Cut way back on American staples. Red meat, refined grains, potatoes, sugary drinks, and salty snacks are part of American culture, but they’re also really unhealthy. Go for a plant-based diet rich in non-starchy vegetables, fruits, and whole grains. And if you eat meat, fish and poultry are the best choices.
5. Take a multivitamin, and maybe have a drink. Taking a multivitamin can be a good nutrition insurance policy. Moderate drinking for many people can have real health benefits, but it's not for everyone. Those who don’t drink shouldn’t feel that they need to start. For more information, read "Alcohol: Balancing Risks and Benefits."

The Bottom Line

Use a food pyramid that’s actually based on the latest and best science.
Healthy Eating Pyramid
We can’t look at a pyramid  these days without thinking of food and healthy eating. There was the U.S. government’s Food Guide Pyramid, followed by its replacement, My Pyramid, which was basically the same thing, just pitched on its side. The problem was that these efforts, while generally well intentioned, have been quite flawed at actually showing people what makes up a healthy diet. Why? Their recommendations have often been based on out-of-date science and influenced by people with business interests in their messages.
But, there’s a better alternative: the Healthy Eating Pyramid, built by the faculty in the Department of Nutrition at the Harvard School of Public Health.  Based on the latest science, and unaffected by businesses and organizations with a stake in its messages, the Healthy Eating Pyramid is a simple, trustworthy guide to choosing a healthy diet. Its foundation is daily exercise and weight control, since these two related elements strongly influence your chances of staying healthy. The Healthy Eating Pyramid builds from there, showing that you should eat more foods from the bottom part of the pyramid (vegetables, whole grains) and less from the top (red meat, refined grains, sugary drinks).

challenge for the week

Have patience this week. When you find yourself rushing, worrying, waiting.....
Take a deep breath, Thank God for his love, and remember he knows your struggles.
Even if your waiting in line at the grocery, let the person behind you go in front!

Be patient.

words from me.....

Papa and me

Dear friends lets all stop our complaining. I do it, you do it, don't take
the time God gave us for granted. No matter what the circumstances, learn to be thankful
and focus on the blessings, not what you don't have, the bills, the problems. I'm praying to God
that I may live in peace, which means being happy with RIGHT NOW. If I were to live in the circumstances that I'm in now FOREVER, I am at peace with that. Can you say that about your life?
why not, you are but a mist that appears then vanishes, tomorrow may never come, and you would have spent the last of is saying, I need a job, where is my unemployment, I need money!!! ( That's what I worried about) Understand that I always set goals and aspirations and strive to do my best and provide a better life for my family, but I'm not worrying or complaining about how long it's taking to for God to provide- I've been good this far!  I know God is in charge, if I believe in him, why would I be biting my finger nails??

Material
Exceptions
Notes
Unbroken glass containers
Clear is the most valuable. Lids can go with metal.
Ceramics, pyrex, tablware, windows, lightbulbs, mirrors. Broken glass is hard to sort.
Only bottle glass is acceptable. Ceramics contaminate glass. Glass is normally color sorted for recycling.
Clean dry newspapers &
newspaper inserts

Rubber bands, plastic bags, product samples, water, dirt, mold or other contamination.
Pack newspapers tightly in large brown grocery sacks or tie with natural twine. Keep dry.
Empty metal cans, caps, lids, bands and foil
Full cans, spray cans unless instructed, cans with paint or hazardous waste.
Metals can be recycled again and again.
Plastic stamped #1 or #2
Some areas only accept clear plastic or certain shapes.
Plastic types #3, #4, #5, #6 or especially #7. Caps are usually a different type from the bottle - toss if unmarked.
Even a small amount of the wrong type of plastic can ruin a melt. Much plastic collected for recycling is actually landfilled.
Plastic stamped #3
Avoid. Contaminates other plastic recyling.
Toxic, especially if burned, see here.
Grocery bags, most clear plastic bags especially if marked #2 or #4. Also in many places bubble wrap and padded bubble envelopes.
Paper, water, dirt, mold or other contamination.
Reduce your need; reuse bags until they're torn. Use old bags to pick up dog waste. Many grocery stores have a barrel for recycling old bags. Since most of this gets mixed with sawdust to make plastic wood, padded bubble envelopes are OK (though not everyone knows this).
Mixed paper: junk mail, magazines, photocopies, computer printouts, cereal/shoe boxes, etc. (some places also take corrugated cardboard and phone books)
Stickers, napkins, tissues, waxed paper, milk cartons, carbon paper, laminated paper (fast food wraps, some food bags, drink boxes, foil), neon paper, thermal fax paper. Any wet or food stained paper.
When in doubt, throw it out.

Paper fiber can be recycled about 7 times before it gets too small. Plastic window envelopes are ok.
"Paper" milk cartons
Rinse quickly & fully open top. These are NOT acceptable in many recycling programs, due to contamination, odor, and the thin plastic liner.
See www.recyclecartons.com. Often cartons are "recycled" via composting.
Scrap aluminum such as lawn chairs, window frames and pots
Metal parts attracted to magnets. Non-metal parts.
Aluminum is not attracted to magnets.
There is no need to remove labels or bands from cans and bottles. Clean only enough to prevent odors. Do not recycle containers with traces of hazardous materials. Do not recycle dirty or food stained paper.
Motor oil (never dump into storm drains) and Tires.
Call your garbage company, local quick-lube, tire shop or call 1-800-MOTOROIL. Old oil and old tires are serious problems.
Automotive batteries, sealed lead/gel-cell batteries
Keep lead out of the environment; take to an automotive or security dealer for recycling or trade in.
Rechargeable batteries (cordless phone, camcorder, shaver, portable appliance, computer, etc.)
Call 1-800-8BATTERY for information. Throw alkaline and heavy duty batteries in trash unless prohibited (See California Universal Waste Note. Nickel-Cadmium rechargeable batteries contain toxins, please recycle.
Laser/Ink printer cartridges
Send to one of the many recyclers or refillers.
Household toxics (paints, oils, solvents, pesticides, cleaners)
Call your garbage company for advice. Do not dump into storm drains.
Computers, eyeglasses, household goods
Donate to charity. Give to a repair shop.

very important

2 Timothy 23 Don't have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels. 24 And the Lord's servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful.

love

www.rojo-magazine.com/projects/

1Thessalonians 3:12 May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for you. May he strengthen your hearts so that you will be blameless and holy in the presence of our God and Father when our Lord Jesus comes with all his holy ones.

money

a sunset in the north pole

1 Timothy 7 For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But
if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

17 command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrongant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.

If you can't understand what she is saying in the song I put the lyrics below- it's deep: refresh the page if the video doesn't play

Lyrics to Fortune :
Mountain of pearls to sooth the soul
gold and silver and silk to cover the old
clocks and rubies crushing these hard bones Im going blind from to many shiny stones
fortune cast a curse I knew It would
fortune buried you
I knew It would
sleep on ugly dreaming wave
vivid life turn into grey , no friends want to stay around
so moving on to a different part of town
fortune cast a curse I knew it would
fortune buried you I knew it would

exfoliate

Exfoliation is a technique where the layer of mostly dead epidermal cells on the outer surface of the skin is removed to expose fresher mostly living cells. Potential benefits of exfoliation include fresher, brighter looking skin, better penetration of active ingredients of skin care products and, for people with excessively oily skin, a varying degree of reduction in oil secretion.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Bath Towels
  • Body Liquid Cleansers
  • Body Lotion
  • Exfoliating Products
  • Oil free moisturizers

  1. Step 1
Brush dry skin before getting into the shower. You can use either a loofah, exfoliating gloves or a body exfoliating brush. Start at the soles of the feet and work your way up.

  2. Step 2
Get into the bath or shower and wet your entire body.

  3. Step 3
Apply exfoliating cleanser to your loofah or exfoliating brush or gloves.

  4. Step 4
Scrub your body with it, using gentle, circular motions.

  5. Step 5
Opt for grainy types of cleansers to clean the skin, rather than soap. Choose exfoliating cleansers that contain ingredients such as oatmeal, ground almonds or even sea salt. The grainy texture exfoliates the skin.

  6. Step 6
Make your own exfoliating cleanser, if you prefer. Mix sea salt, olive oil and lemon juice together, or mix ground almonds and powdered milk. The combinations are endless.

  7. Step 7
Use a washcloth for mild exfoliation.

  8. Step 8
Rub rough spots, such as heels, with a pumice stone or stick.

  9. Step 9
Apply lotion containing alpha or beta hydroxy acids after you exfoliate. This will continue the exfoliating process because the acids further abrade and remove dead skin cells.

  10. Step 10
Be sure to use body moisturizers at least once every day. Regular exfoliating is extremely drying to the skin and will do more harm than good unless the skin is rehydrate liberally with lotions.

After researching different sites that talk about exfoliating I wouldn't do it more than once a week, unless you have very oily skin.

words from me...

DON'T BE ARROGANT!!!!!

Dear friends,

Don't lean on your own understanding. God has told us not to worry, and give all our problems and anxieties to him. If we walk this life with out leaning on him, we are telling him we can do it on our own. Don't be so prideful that you can't take time out of your day to ask him for help, to say thank you, to spend time with him.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6,7

definition of encourage: to inspire with courage, spirit, or hope

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen (Ephesians 4:29).

slow to speak quick to listen

Dear friends, when someone is speaking to you listen. Do not be so proud, do not be rude. Even when you disagree, listen first, then calmly respond. Be open to all who have advice to share, you never know what you can learn- young or old.  Show love to your neighbors, and kill evil with kindness.

James 1:19 My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man’s anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires.

Love is patient,
Love is kind.
It does not envy,

honey

benefits of honey

Skin

Honey is extremely nourishing for the skin when used as face pack and helps in rejuvenating the skin leading to the elimination of fine wrinkles.
It is a good moisturiser.

Honey has considerable Laxative effect on the human digestion system which in turn helps in reducing skin problem ie (pimples) and other problems associated with constipation, which become revealed on the skin.

Antibacterial and antifungal properties

Honey contains many minerals and vitamins beneficial to man. However, one of the most important properties seems to be its antibiotic action.
Honey has been shown to be superior to certain conventional antibiotics in treating some infections.
This bactericide (bacteria-killing) property of honey is named "the inhibition effect". Experiments conducted on honey show that its bactericide properties increase twofold when diluted with water. It is very interesting to note that newly born bees in the colony are nourished with diluted honey by the bees responsible for their supervision - as if they know this feature of the honey.

Healing wounds & grazes

Honey is of value in treating burns, infected surgical wounds and ulcers. Honey is very viscous, enabling it to absorb water from surrounding inflamed tissue. For example, a study in West Africa showed that skin grafting, surgical debridement and even amputation were avoided when local application of honey to wound promoted healing, whereas conventional treatment failed.
For such wounds or Grazes, cover the wound with honey and a bandage.

Diarrhoea

At a concentration of 40%, honey has a bactericidal effect on various gut bacteria known to cause diarrhoea and dysentery

Allergies

Raw honey is an excellent treatment for 90% of all allergies.

Teeth

Although Honey is sweet, it helps to maintain and protect teeth! Its anti-microbial activity has been tested on several species of dental plaque bacteria. A study shows that honey has been proven to sharply reduce acid production, thus killing the bacteria responsible for dental caries, and blocking the growth of oral bacteria.

Stomach Ache

Take 1 teaspoon of honey, juice of a lemon with a hot glass of water first thing in the morning.

Colds and coughs

Honey is remedial in cases of persistent coughs and sore throat. The strong antibiotic properties it contains coats the throat and reduces throat irritation.
Mix 6 oz. liquid honey, 2 oz. glycerin with juice of 2 lemons. Bottle and cork firmly. Use as required.
For Blocked noses, Place a dessert spoon of honey in a basin of hot water and inhale fumes after covering your head with a towel over the basin.
For Sore throats, Let 1 teaspoon of honey melt in the back of the mouth and trickle down the throat. Eases inflamed raw tissues.
Uneasiness felt in the mouth & throat due to infection can be relieved immediately with honey, so there is extensive scope for honey in cough mixtures & expectorants.

Honey used for children helps inflammatory throat conditions as it both purifies blood.

Digestion

Because sugar molecules in honey can convert into other sugars (e.g. fructose to glucose), honey is easily digested by the most sensitive stomachs, despite its high acid content. It helps kidneys and intestines to function better. Hence honey is beneficial for maintaining a healthy digestive system as well as combating illnesses such as constipation.
For poor digestion, Mix 1:1 honey with apple cider vinegar and dilute to taste with water.
For patients suffering with various maladies of stomach who consume 10 grams of honey on an empty stomach in the morning & not eat anything thereafter for about 1 hour, will start feeling relief from the disorders within a few days.

Weight control

Honey has a low calorie content. Honey, when it is compared with the same amount of sugar, it gives 40% less calories to the body. Although it gives great energy to the body, it does not add weight.

humility

1peter 3:8 Finally all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called that you may inherit a blessing. For,

" Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from
deceitful speech. He must turn form evil and do good; he must seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil."

1peter 5:6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

love your skin

 Cocoa butter

Pregnant women have long used to cocoa butter formulations to prevent and treat stretch marks, but this pleasant-smelling substance is added to countless other topical preparations as well.

Lotions and oils containing cocoa butter are often used in aromatherapy massages to promote feelings of relaxation and well-being. Recent research indicates that massaging the skin with cocoa butter may help relieve stress, boost the immune system, and even prevent cancer. This is because cocoa butter, like chocolate, contains a lot of CMP.

vitamin e

Vitamin E Oil - A Nighttime Beauty Aid for Wrinkles and Dry Skin
After you have removed your make up at night, apply a drop of Vitamin E Oil to your fingertip. Gently rub this natural beauty aid on Crow's Feet around your eyes, on wrinkles around your lips, on any problem skin areas you have on your face. (Do not use it on oily skin.) You can actually apply a little Vitamin E Oil to your entire face- just keep it out of your eyes- to help make your dry skin soft and moisturized.

aloe vera

Many ancient works, including the Bible, refer to the use of aloe. One of the first documented users of aloe vera was Cleopatra, who lived from 68 to 30 B.C. She is said to have used the gel on her skin as protection from the sun, and to have thought the gel helped to keep her skin young-looking. In fact, the Egyptians may have used aloe vera in their embalming of bodies, among other uses.

About the year Six B.C., Dioscorides, a Greek physician, discovered aloe vera was effective in treating a wide range of ailments, from kidney problems and constipation, to severe burns of the skin.

Today aloe vera continues to be widely used around the world. Studies have shown that aloe vera speeds the healing process, particularly in burns, including those from radiation. It is also used by dermatologists to speed healing after facial dermabrasion, which removes scars from the skins top layers.

oatmeal

Colloidal oatmeal, which is oatmeal converted to a fine powder, has been used for thousands of years to cure itchiness. Keep in mind that this type of oatmeal cannot be eaten! Its natural properties are hailed by the US Food and Drug Administration, an organization hesitant to call anything natural before careful scientific study. Oatmeal has been proven to protect the skin and provide relief towards itching. In addition, it is an excellent irritation healer. When insect bites and poisonous plants ravage your skin, oatmeal can be used to relieve these skin rashes.

Enthusiasts also used oatmeal powder in hot baths. When you add oatmeal powder into your warm bathwater, the water turns milky which allows the oatmeal to disperse rather than settle to the bottom. In addition to its healing properties, immersing yourself in a tub of oatmeal powder feels great. Remember, run your bathwater to hot and add a pack of oatmeal right under the faucet (instead of heaving it in there) to help spread the oatmeal around. Keep the water lukewarm rather than hot. Hot baths will only dehydrate your skin and strip it of its essential oils. Soak in the oatmeal bath for no more than 20 minutes and be careful when you step out, as the tub will become slippery. Opt to pat or blot your skin dry rather than rubbing your skin to keep the moisture intact.
